That statement isn’t as obvious as it sounds. I went to my third appointment today (in a series of 4-6 sessions) fully prepared for a pain-free visit. Why? Because I paid an extra $60 for a 30g tube of Maxilene 5 so I wouldn’t feel a thing. Apparently, my skin isn’t super-absorbant so the 45 minutes I gave the miracle cream to work wasn’t enough time and I felt almost every single folicale fry as the laser worked its magic.
Next time (about 6 weeks from now) I plan to get to the office a full 90 minutes early so I can sit with the cream on for a full 60 minutes before the evil machine comes near me. Wish me luck!
I can so relate to this and I hate that I can. I’ve sat with the mega-ultra-numbing-cream-from-heaven on from 15 minutes to 70 minutes beforehand and it does nothing for me, at least so little that is noticable it stopped being worth the extra time sitting there. I opted for valium.
Sure, I can still feel the pain but I don’t care nearly as much.
Randomly, where I go here in NC they goop on natural aloe right before they start zapping to help with the level of heat from each minute burn. I had them try it without the aloe and that actually managed to decrease the level of pain I was feeling.
Happy Lasering Misery.
Ugh…. Thanks for the tip about the Aloe. I’ll try that next time. Oh, and I added you to my LJ Friends list
